Philosophy of graduation

It is high school graduation season in the United States, and I was able to enjoy a well written and well delivered graduation speech by the class valedictorian.  A paraphrase of his speech is “As of today, you are in control.   You have the steering wheel, you have the gas pedal, you have the brakes.  You are in control of your life.”   I hope to meet that young man in 20 years and see how his philosophy has changed.  Part of the maturing wisdom of life includes accepting and realizing that so little is in our control.
