We are all but a small part of a very long story. Tonight we had roast, carrots, and potatoes. Cows and carrots were originally domesticated in Mesopotamia, then spread throughout the rest of the world. Potatoes were domesticated in South America and brought back to Europe by Spaniards. The DNA of these international travelers ended up on my plate in Alabama.
